Feel the Love of Jesus
And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God (Ephesians 3:19 KJV)
Establishing our hearts in the love of Christ is critical for a healthy Christian life. The love of God is not a subject reserved for Sunday school kids or new converts. Please let this thinking not have a place in your mind. On the contrary, it is the love of Christ that leads us to a healthy spiritual maturity and the fullness of God as noted above.
The topic of today’s devotional is “feel the love of Jesus”. I often write about the importance of setting your thoughts on God and the Word but this devotional is not about your thoughts. It is about your feelings or emotions. The word “feeling” has been put on the blacklist of many Christians. However, we have come to recognize that our emotions in themselves are not evil. God gave them to us.
How many of you would like to have a wife or husband and do not “feel” their love? Love is not only an action as we typically teach. It also involves our affection, feelings! Christ’s love for you is not exclusively limited to His act of dying on the cross. He is also affectionate about you! He wants you also to have your emotions filled with His affection for you. Please, learn to take a moment and allow your emotions to experience the love of Christ.
MEDITATE
Does God want us to get rid of our emotions or to redeem them? What does the typical command “rejoice evermore” mean”?
APPLY THE WORD
I strongly exhort you to put this devotional to work. Learn to allow your emotions to experience the affection of Christ’s love. Learn to know He did not only die for you and that was it but He continues to have that same affectionate unconditional love for you. Remind yourself of His love ALWAYS and allow your heart(including your feelings) to be overwhelmed by it. Then see how this simple practice will impact you.
PRAY
Ask the Spirit to help you allow Christ’s love to fill your emotions.
