Faith Removes Mountains

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing (1 Cor. 13:2 KJV)

The Apostle Paul in comparing spiritual virtues to demonstrate the superiority of love gives us a tremendous insight into the gift of prophecy as well as faith. First, notice that the gift of prophecy makes a man “understand all mysteries, and all knowledge.” This is at the very core of prophecy.

Next, he tells us about faith, that it removes mountains! There is a beautiful correlation in scripture to demonstrate how faith removes mountains from the Old Testament to the New.  In Zechariah 4:7, after the LORD had told Zerrubabbel that it is not by might but by His Spirit, He then spoke poetically to a mountain and said “Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel, thou shalt become a plain” ( KJV). In other words,  Zerubabbel will remove every mountain before Him by the Spirit of the Lord.  But how do we remove mountains before us by the Spirit of God?  Jesus gives it to us in Mark 11:23

“For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith” (Mk. 11:23 KJV)

Faith removes mountains by the Spirit of God! You activate the power of the Spirit when you act in faith. But what are mountains  in the first place? They represent hindrances, opposition, challenges, etc. The LORD is saying to us, “there is nothing impossible to him that believeth.” This is not positive thinking. It is divine operation in and through humanity. We have options in life as Christians. You are not at the mercy of life, but carried by the Spirit of God from victory to victory!

MEDITATE

Take a moment to re-read our main verse above and say over and over again. I mean it! This is how you meditate on the Word, not just with your mind but learn to mutter the Word and allow it to take deep root in your spirit.

APPLY THE WORD

Faith is the scepter of our victory in life ( 1 John 5:4). God is saying that no mountain, whether fear, disease, poverty, demonic oppression, etc. can stand before your faith. The only question is if you can put your faith to work. Invest in your faith, for it will return a million times more. Feed on the Word. Learn to act on the Word. Train yourself in the Word. Grow in faith!

PRAY

Ask the LORD to help you build strong spiritual muscles that will take you from one level of victory and glory to another.
