A lesson from the woman with bleeding

For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. (Mk. 5:28-29 KJV)

The scripture above narrates the story of the woman who had bleeding for 12 years. After attempting all therapies, she heard about Jesus and resolved within herself in faith to touch His clothes. Jesus was minding His business, going to the house of a  Jewish leader to heal his daughter. He did not know about this woman, what she had planned, and what she did until He felt power going out of Him.  The next verse records, And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?.

This woman has taught generations of believers how to receive from God, and how faith works. But there is one thing that is key to this story. She reached out in faith and received her miracle without Jesus being directly involved in making a decision whether to heal her or not. She teaches us that faith works like the electrical switch that turns on a light bulb. There might be electricity, even though the bulb is not on. If you turn the switch on,  electrical power is released and the bulb will light up. It is no longer the decision of the electricity company whether the bulb will be on or not. The power is in the hands of the consumer of the electricity.

If only we will take a firm hold of this truth, that grace has already supplied all that we ever need for life and godliness. Healing is no longer God’s decision. Deliverance is no longer His decision. The blessing is no longer God’s decision. He has already done all He can ever do. He has already given us the blessing. It is ours to receive in faith. Be inspired, challenged, and provoked by this woman. Why will your spirit be loaded with healing while your body is being eroded by disease? Why will you be called blessed of the Lord but live like a vagabond on the earth? Why should we be declared higher above principalities and powers while demons seem to torment or oppress us? The Bible says that the heir as long as he is still a child will continue to live like a servant. We should grow up and take what is ours.

MEDITATE

The Word in your mind and mouth (1 Tim 4:15; Josh 1: 8)

All things are yours. Meditate and declare these words until they become one with you.

PRAY

Water the Seed (word) to grow. Invite the Spirit’s strength! (Isa 32:15; Zach 4:6)

Ask the Lord for a holy passion for His Word that will feed your spirit with knowledge and faith.

APPLY THE WORD TODAY!

Your door to a blessed life today is doing God’s Word. Refuse to be a hearer or reader only! (James 1:22-26)

God for God’s Word. That is the greatest investment you can ever make in your Christian life. If there is a challenge you are going through now, start by getting the Word, meditate, again and again, listen to teaching about that situation until  God’s Word has taken a hold of you and faith springs up like a natural fountain. Then you will see that nothing is impossible to him that believeth. The woman above did not get her miracle cheap like most Christians want it today. She did not lay on her couch and expect manna from heaven. She stepped out in faith. Don’t sit and watch Satan eat your launch while you wait for God to do something. Step out!
