Satan and Demons are Not Our Friends
I do not want you to be participants with demons (1 Cor. 10For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12 KJV)
The Bible is as clear about Satan and demons as it is about God and angels. As believers, ignoring or neglecting the existence or activities of evil spirits is inviting trouble into our lives.
Evil spirits, here described as Satan and demons, are spiritual beings or personalities active in the lives of human beings and world affairs. These spirits are not just an idea or influence: they are spiritual beings or personalities with intelligence. Just as God, their spirit beings are not human beings we usually would see moving around. In fact, over 99% of us will never see a demon in some physical form, yet their activities are everywhere, just as the tornado we cannot see but moves houses and trees we can see.
Evil spirits are not only real, but they are called “spiritual wickedness” in Ephesians 6:12 above—Satan or demons are not our friends. There is no good demon, and not one of them seeks to do anything good for any human being. Rather than promote our welfare, demons are responsible for unmeasurable human suffering, unimaginable evil practices, and unthinkable sinful behaviors. Furthermore, they are against God’s purposes from the days of Adam and Eve till today.
To the world, demons are fairies, fictional zombies, or fun movie characters. However, to God, demons are spiritual wickedness active in people’s lives, homes, communities, and nations. God has shown us in the Bible that demons seek to influence our behaviors, tempt us to sin, oppress us mentally and emotionally, possess some, or even afflict others physically. Demons are closer to our society than many of us realize. And, no, they are not limited to developing countries. Evil spirits are as active in Africa as they are in the United States or Europe; they are present in South America as in Asia; they are everywhere, in all continents, wherever human beings are found. They operate based on the values and local practices of the inhabitants in any region.
You are in spiritual warfare. The world might celebrate demons, but there is nothing for us as believers to celebrate about them. Instead, God has commanded us to destroy their works and has nothing to do with them.
