An Important Characteristic of End Time Events
And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any man deceive you (Mark 13:5 KJV)
When the disciples asked Jesus about the signs of the end times, Jesus responded, beginning His teaching on the end times, with “take heed lest any man deceives you.” The Apostles asked Jesus for the signs, but Jesus first warned them about the coming deception. Anyone thirsty for signs and wonders must be careful not to drink deception.
Deception is not accidental; the deceiver carefully plans it. To deceive someone is deliberately making them believe a lie by presenting it as the truth. The one deceived is so sure about what they believe because they do not know it is a lie. By making the deceived believe a lie, the deceiver can determine their spiritual condition, influence their actions, and control their fate. Therefore Satan has a vested interest in deception.
The deception of the end times is tailored explicitly to concealing the truth about Christ. Scripture shows us Satan will deceive the world in different ways. First, he will present a false Christ for people to believe. Then he will raise devilish prophets and teachers who will do signs and wonders to make people believe they are Christ’s ministers. Or, and this is the one of the most effective, he will slip in distorted teachings and doctrines for believers to accept as the truth. Whatever the specific tactic, the underlying principle is the same: Satan wants people to believe a lie about Jesus thinking it is true.
I cannot overemphasize the importance of being grounded in the knowledge of the Word revealed in the scriptures; yes, scriptures, and not dreams, visions, prophecies, or “special revelations” from anyone.

Why is deception so powerful? Think about the power of believing and what happened to you when you accepted the message of the cross as true.
The deception of the end times is not coming—it is here NOW and increasing. Believers, please be grounded in the knowledge of God revealed in the scriptures. This establishment on the truth is your only safeguard against deception.
Ask the Father to help us know Him more in the Word to discern what is not from Him.
