Choose life with your mouth

… I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: (Deut. 30:19)

These words were echoed in the ears of the jews by Moses. God gave them the ability to choose, between life and death. This is phenomenal. The Law brought in the power for man to be able to choose life or death.  The implications of this statement to us today are remarkable, if we remember that death is not just the process of dying, but also includes the quality of existence here and now. To God, the sinner who is living in sin is dead. That individual might be living, but doing so without God. Grace has brought to us the ability to choose between death or life in the affairs of life.

One of the ways expressly given to us in scripture for us to choose death or life here and now is by our mouth. Proverbs 18:21 says “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof”.  The tongue is powerful because words govern the realm of the spirit which in turn controls the natural world.  We choose life or death by the words of our mouth.  Operating in the realm of the spirit requires us to be fully cognizant of the power of words. Many people are unaware that each time they speak, they are actually making a choice between life and death, with regards to their health, finances, relationships, ministries, etc. Learn to watch your tongue carefully, for there is power in it. Do not keep quiet either, but cultivate the habit of speaking God’s word over your life and circumstances. Don’t say ” I am so confused about this!”. You may feel confused but say ” God’s wisdom is at work in me and I know what to do!”.  If you speak as such, you will be choosing life( wisdom) rather than death( confusion). God has given to us the power to choose between death and life with our mouth. Speak life, and not death, to your finances, health, relationships, and to your kids.

MEDITATE

The Word in your mind and mouth (1 Tim 4:15; Josh 1: 8)

Roll those words of scripture above in your mind again and again as you meditate upon them to grasp their meanings. Speak the words to yourself, under your breath as muttering and out loud.  The devotional above gives us one of the reasons we meditate on the Word by speaking it out loud. We speak life in our lives as we declare His Words!

PRAY

Water the Seed (word) to grow. Invite the Spirit’s strength! (Isa 32:15; Zach 4:6)

It is extremely vital to understand the power of words if you want to operate in the things of God. Honestly, if you still do not get this “thing” about the critical importance of confession or speaking, you definitely need a revelation on it. Ask the Spirit to open the eyes of your understanding and believe He would, and take a personal study of the scripture and believe He will grant you this insight. It is a revelation to personally get a hold of.

APPLY THE WORD TODAY!

Your door to a blessed life today is doing God’s Word. Refuse to be a hearer or reader only! (James 1:22-26)

You can begin to train yourself today to speak life by speaking the words of the scriptures above whenever you have an opportunity today!
