Born to Shine
For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light (Ephesians 5:8, KJV)
The Lord calls us “children of light.” We were born into the kingdom to shine. Our Father is Light, our Saviour is Light, and He says we are the light of the world! Our life from beginning to the end is full of light.
Jesus gives us one of the critical meanings of light in the Sermon of the Mount:
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16, KJV)
He calls our works light that men see. When we shine, we emit light and people around us see the rays of the light. Light in itself is anything that reveals or makes known. When men see our works, something is made known to them. They see, and then know. They see you walk in love and light shines in them revealing the Father to them. They see God in you and glorify Him as His beauty is displayed in your character and behavior. There is a relationship between glorifying God, light and our works.
Your calling in Christ is to be the visible expression of God. What a blessing! As the Father was seen in Christ, so He will be seen in us. Think about this for a second. The world will see us act in such wisdom and demonstrate such power that it will be evident to them that what they are seeing is not humans but God in humans! They will see divine virtues expressed in and through us. Praise the Lord for His wonderful grace!
MEDITATE
What does it mean to shine? Mutter the words “ I am born to shine. I am a visible expression of God on the earth. I am a child of light and I walk in the light”.
APPLY THE WORD
Arise, shine for your light has come! It is our season. It is our time. Display the virtues and excellencies of God to the world—your home, neighborhood, place of work, etc.
PRAY
Thank the Father for making us partakers of His glory.
