Spiritual Place and Positioning

I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:(Galatians 1:6 KJV)

‘Location, location, location” is a well-known maxim in real estate that emphasizes the importance of where a home is located. The idea of location includes both the physical place and the strategic positioning. Interestingly, the scriptures also teach that there is a spiritual place and correct or incorrect positioning.

In Galatians 1:6, Paul marveled that the Galatian Christians were so quickly removed from God into another Gospel. The term “removed” literally means to transfer from one place to another. However, Paul was not concerned about a physical movement but a spiritual displacement from one spiritual place to another. In this context, Christ was the initial place. Many of us are familiar with the phrase “in Christ”, which conveys the same idea: Christ is a spiritual place.

When we believe in Jesus, receive His grace, and trust in Him for salvation, God removes us from the world and places us in Christ. We abide, dwell, or live in that place by faith in Christ’s finished work. Therefore, believing is the act that positions us spiritually; believing in Him places us in Him, and not believing in Him leaves us Him in a dark place.

Since believing positions us spiritually, believing the wrong Gospel or doctrine positions us incorrectly. For instance, the Galatians initially believed Jesus was enough and were set correctly in Him. But when some false teachers later told them they had to keep the Jewish law of circumcision, they believed in that distorted Gospel and were “removed from Him.” The wrong Gospel displaced them and made them fall from grace(Galatians 5:4).

In summary, whatever you believe positions you spiritually. By extension, what you believe about healing, prosperity, the Holy Spirit, etc., puts you in a desirable or undesirable place.

Meditate

What is a spiritual place, as described above?

Apply the Word

Where are you abiding concerning your relationship with God, ministry, deliverance, money, health, etc.? What do you really believe? Ensure you are always correctly positioned.

Pray

Ask the Father to help you resist anything that attempts to displace you from the Truth in Christ.
