Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it shall be granted him. (Mark 11:23
We all want to move the mountains that stand in our path. These may be mountains of disease, fear, habits, family crises, financial slumps, or even spiritual apathy. However, there is an even more important mountain inside that must be moved before the mountain outside will be moved by our faith. This is the mountain of doubt.
It appears years of not seeing results with the Word of God as we should have made many to think it is normal to declare or even act “in faith” with our hearts not full of faith but doubts, because “we never see any results anyway”. We must resist this temptation. Faith truly moves mountains, and if we don’t get the results we should, that does not negate God’s word, but rather push us to revisit our hearts to see what we are calling “faith”. One of the issues of faith today is that most of what is called faith in Christendom now is not what God calls faith.
If you would ask the Holy Spirit, you might be surprised at what you thought you believed which you truly don’t. Faith declarations without faith are but music to the ears of the mountain we are speaking to.
Guard your heart with all diligence, and train it to believe God. Invest in your faith. Invest whatever it takes to get your heart rich with His word.
Ponder upon the scripture above. Do you usually do a quick heart check when speaking to your mountains? Or has speaking to the mountain become such a routine and tradition to you that it does not matter anymore what your heart really says?
Pray the Lord will give you and desire and passion to seek Him in the Word. There is no other way for a sure, enduring and victorious faith but for you to take a hold of God’s word and for His word to take a hold of your heart.
