The Word and the Spirit are Not Options to Choose from

“How much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God?” (Heb. 9:14 NASB)

The Word of God and the Holy Spirit might sometimes appear to be a choice for us to focus on one or the other. Should I focus more on reading the Bible, or praying, to cultivate a relationship with the Spirit? In Hebrews 9:14 above, Jesus the Living Word did what He did by the Holy Spirit.

The Word is God. The Spirit is God. God has not given us a duplicate of the thing we need. He has not given us a double portion of Himself. God’s Word and His Spirit are not options for us to choose the one we are more comfortable with. The Word and the Spirit are inseparable. The Spirit works by the Word, and the Word works by the Spirit. Get the full measure of God in your life by cultivating a relationship with His Word and Spirit.

MEDITATE

Think of the verse above. Declare that the Word and the Spirit are both operating in your life today.

PRAY

Pray that you will learn how to use the Word to function in the Spirit throughout your life.

ACT ON THE WORD!

The Spirit is triggered into work whenever we act on the Word in faith. You walk in the Spirit by learning to walk in the Word. Choose to speak and do only what the Word commands, and get the Spirit to work!
