What is the Word of God?
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (Jn. 1:1 KJV)
It should be evident to you that there is something different about the words that God speaks. There are like no other. What is different about God’s Word? What is the Word of God in the first place?
There are two scriptures by the Apostle John that give us a biblical definition as to the nature of the Word of God. The first is John 1:1 above. It tells us plainly, that “the Word was God.” The second is John 6:63 which says “the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life”. These two verses give us a solid biblical definition for understanding what the Word of God is. There are many other verses that describe the characteristics of the Word such as Hebrews 4:12.
The Word of God is God Himself. It is God in revelation, of His nature, purposes, plans, will, etc. God is invisible—that is the Father. The God that is revealed is the Word. The God that goes forth to accomplish what He wants is the Word( Isa. 53:13). The Word is not just the words that God speaks. It is God Himself! It is the mystery of the Trinity. The Word was with God, denoting association and fellowship, and the Word was God! Each time you are interacting with the Word, be conscious that you are interacting with God!
MEDITATE
Can you think of two divine qualities of the Word of God? ( Heb. 4:12, John 6:63, 1 Pet. 1:23).
APPLY THE WORD
This is God’s command to you “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly” (Col. 3:16 KJV). Why? Because as the Word fills your heart, that is God filling your heart and taking over your life!
PRAY
Ask the Father to open your eyes to the mysteries of His Word.
