There is a Way which Seemeth Right unto a Man
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, But the end thereof are the ways of death. (Proverbs 14:12, KJV)
Have you ever believed that your chosen course of action was right, only to discover later that you were wrong? It’s a common experience in life, and the consequences can be even more severe when it comes to spiritual things. Let’s take a moment to explore why this is the case and how we can avoid such pitfalls.
Solomon tells us that sometimes we are certain, in our own eyes, that we have chosen the right path, having carefully considered it the correct course of action. However, the outcomes of our decisions may not align with our expectations. Just as fruits take time to develop after a seed is planted, the results of our choices often reveal themselves over time. The ways that lead to death can manifest in physical, spiritual, or even eternal forms.
Consider the significance of this truth for those who firmly reject Jesus as the Messiah. Imagine discovering, at the end of their lives, when they stand before God, that they were wrong all along. Their chosen way led to eternal death—but they were so sure of their views.
Additionally, people have made poor choices resulting in them losing their lives. At other times, our misguided decisions can bring about the death of joy, marriages, relationships, finances, spiritual lives, or ministries.
We must trust the Lord with all our hearts to escape the death that stems from our faulty choices. We need to follow His wisdom and guidance, as stated in Proverbs 3:5. While life, people, and circumstances can deceive us, God possesses superior knowledge; He protects us from making mistakes or being deceived by others.
Meditate
Take a moment to reflect on the last time you believed something was right, only to find yourself in trouble later.
Apply the Word
Now, consider your current path. Does it appear right to you, yet it may unknowingly lead to death? To avoid unnecessary headaches and heartaches, make it a habit to seek God’s guidance in every decision(Proverbs 3:5-7).
Pray
Ask the Father to protect us from our errors and the deception others may bring into our lives.
