But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit. (2 Corinthians 3:18 NAS)
Becoming more like Christ in our outward man is the quintessence of spiritual growth.
Spiritual stunting or kwashiorkor occurs when our christian growth becomes arrested or slowed down, for whatever reason. God’s plan is for the believer to be transformed daily to become more like Christ. We are all changed into the same image, which is Christ. Whenever we take a step forward in our growth, we become more like Him, and we move from one level of glory to the next level. The believer is like the sun that rises early at dawn and becomes brighter and brighter as midday is approaching.
The secret of christian transformation is seeing Christ. As we see, we become transformed to become what we see. Constant transformation therefore results when we keep our eyes fixed on Him.
How do we see Christ? Not with our physical eyes. We see Christ with our spiritual eyes that are opened by revelation of His Word to us. The Spirit shows Christ to us in the Word. The newman is renewed by knowledge( Colossians 3:10). Christian growth is effortless in the presence of constant fresh revelation of the Word on a consistent basis to an open heart. It has to be effortless, because it is by the Spirit when Christ is seen.
As you see Him, you will become transformed by the Spirit to become like Him.
Ponder upon the mystery of seeing Christ in the mirror of the Word. Think about the transformation that follows the seeing.
Confess the words of the verse above by muttering aloud.
The Spirit is waiting for us to see so that He can transform us to what we see.
Ask the Lord to cause you to see Him more and more in the Word
Pray for the grace to be continually transformed and never stagnant in your growth.
