Though you have not seen Him, you love Him
Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory (1 Peter 1:8, ESV)
The Apostle Peter spoke the precious words above to the believers who received his letter. He reminded them that though they had not seen Jesus, they loved Him. He had seen Jesus and lived with Him. He knew Jesus personally, from a fleshly perspective. But His audience did not have that privilege. Those he was writing to had never seen Jesus but after they received the Gospel, they loved Him dearly. What do you call this? Faith!
You have certainly experienced what the readers of Peter’s audience had experienced. You have probably never seen Jesus physically but you love Him. God is indirectly telling you that you are already walking in faith more than many of us realize. Could you think about it? The Lord is telling you the love in your heart for Jesus is a product of your faith. Your faith is already producing results! As if that is not enough, Peter went further. He says though you also have not seen Him, you believe in Him and that faith has also produced joy in your heart that is inexpressible and filled with glory! Do you see the source of the joy of the Lord? It is a product of faith!
Faith is crucial for our daily Christian life. You can see from this verse that love and joy are products of faith, believing in Jesus you have not seen. You already have these results meaning your faith is already working! Do you realize it is that same faith that also produces healing, deliverance, peace, power, wisdom etc.? Do you know that one of the ways the Lord calls you in the scripture is “believer”? Believing God is wired in your very nature. You are a child of Abraham, the father of faith! You do not need to fabricate faith. Just grow in it. Feed on the Word and learn to walk in it!
MEDITATE
Do we need to physically see Jesus before we believe in Him? From the devotional above, what are some results of faith you have already experienced to prove that you already have faith as a believer?
APPLY THE WORD
You do not need to see Jesus physically before walking in faith. You do not need some vision of angels, heaven or of supernatural phenomena to make you believe. If God gives you, thank Him for it but it is not mandatory! Learn to walk in faith. Believe the Word. Stand on it. That is your normal way of life as a child of God, and your faith overcomes the world, including that problem that is on your mind right now!
PRAY
Ask the Spirit to strengthen you in your walk of faith and show encourage you to continue to grow stronger and stronger in it.
