Thou shalt both do great things, and shalt still prevail

Then Saul said to David, Blessed be thou, my son David: thou shalt both do great things, and also shalt still prevail. So David went on his way, and Saul returned to his place (1 Samuel 26:25 KJV)

David was anointed as king when Saul was still king in the land. This is never a fun situation! David would spend many years of his life running away from Saul, who was seeking to kill him. God supernaturally protected David, and Saul knew it.

During the last raid that  Saul conducted to capture David with about 3,000 chosen soldiers from Israel, David did something unusual but very typical for him. He went into the cave where Saul was sleeping in, took his spear rather than killing his enemy, went out and then called out to Saul to tell him what happened. Saul was pricked in his heart. He could not imagine David not killing his enemy. Saul then said the words noted in the verse above.

Saul said “blessed be thou, my son David: thou shalt both do great things, and also shalt still prevail”. It only takes God’s working for a man that made himself David’s enemy to pronounce such words of blessing and prosperity over him! The truth is, David did great things and prevailed because the Lord was with him. You will do great things and shall also prevail over every circumstance!. You do not need to spend your time fighting with people who have made themselves your enemies. Your secret is to walk with God and stay in fellowship with Him.

MEDITATE

Did David evade Saul’s raids because he was a skillful fighter or because God was with him?

Did David ever see any supernatural sign such as fire around him to assure him God was with him and protecting him? Do you need to see one before you also believe?

APPLY THE WORD

You are destined to do great things and to prevail in this life! Be strong. Do not allow the little problems to discourage you or weigh you down. Do not allow that man or woman to ruin your destiny in God. Keep shining!

PRAY

Thank the Father for always protecting you and giving you the victory in life.
