Thou Hath Found Favor with God

“And the angel said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God’” (Lk. 1:30 NAS).

Mary got out of bed one day to meet an unanticipated guest with a most unusual message. An angel appeared to her, sent from God, and said, “Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God.”

The season of Christmas is a celebration of God’s unmerited favor to us. Mary was stunned and taken unaware by divine favor. This favor did not end with Mary. In fact, the fullness of divine favor was poured out on us after Jesus had died and was resurrected. Ephesians 1:6 reminds us that God has freely bestowed an abundance of grace and favor on us in the Beloved. You have found favor with God through Jesus Christ!
