The Confusion About Grace
For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality…. (Jude 1:4 NIV)
While many believers are getting a revelation of God’s grace and running with it, others are just plain confused. There are many reasons for this confusion, but one of them is ungodly people claiming grace as a license to commit sexual immorality.
Many sincere believers are confused by the behavior of “ungodly people” abusing grace long before God’s true grace was revealed to them. People have always abused God’s Word for their personal gain but that in no way nullifies the truth of His Word.
Can grace produce sin? A thousand times no. Rather the presence of sin is the greatest evidence that grace is absent. Grace is the divine antidote to a sinful lifestyle because it empowers us to break free from the practical grip of sin.
There should be no confusion, hesitancy or suspicion about grace. If you are confused about grace, start by studying the scriptures for yourself. You may also compliment Scripture with Christian literature to help solidify your understanding.
MEDITATE
Who are these “ungodly people” mentioned in our scripture above? Were they true Christians? See 2 Pet. 2:1, Gal. 2:4. Declare that “the Holy Spirit lives in me and I therefore refuse to be confused about God’ grace.
APPLY THE WORD
If you know you do not have a solid revelation of the grace of God, I strongly recommend you do a personal study for yourself. Please do not begin by purchasing a book about grace, rather start by studying the Word for yourself and then get relevant books to read later.
PRAY
Ask the Spirit to help give you understanding and focus so you won’t be distracted by the ungodly people in these end times.
