Rule thou in the midst of thine enemies
The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, Until I make thine enemies thy footstool. The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: Rule thou in the midst of thine enemies (Psalm 110:1–2 KJV)
The Psalmist spoke prophetically about the Messiah in the verse above. The Father said to Jesus, “sit thou at my right hand until I make thine enemies thy footstool.” And then the Father goes on to tell Jesus what He would do to get this done: “the LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.”
There is a divine plan to subject the enemies of Christ and make them His footstool. Christ has to rule in the midst of His enemies. These are not divine intentions that depend solely on our faith or our will. This is the Father’s stated will, and it will be fulfilled to the letter. A few questions for you: when will these enemies be subjected? And who are these enemies in the first place?
These are basic questions relating to the nature and operations of the kingdom of God. God’s enemies, who are also your enemies, are not human beings. What are the things that are fighting against God’s will and purposes in your life? Satan and his demons, death, sin, sickness, poverty, etc. Will these enemies be subjected when we enter heaven? Well, no! There will be no death, Satan or demons, sickness etc. in heaven. These enemies have to be subjected in the events patterning to this present world. God wants you to rule, reign or exercise control over these enemies by the power of the Spirit!
MEDITATE
Meditate upon this: what does it mean for Christ to rule in the midst of His enemies?
APPLY THE WORD
God is bringing the Church into the power and glory of the kingdom. The ruling scepter in the kingdom of God is the rod of the Word. He sends the rod out of Zion and then commands us to rule! Be strong in the Lord, grow in the Word, and become established in the power of the Spirit.
PRAY
Ask the Spirit to help you reign with Christ as you sit in the heavenly places with Him.
