New species of humanity
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new (2 Corinthians 5:17, KJV)
Genesis 2:7 says God created man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and he became a living soul. This was Adam and all the generation of human beings that descended from him. His body was taken from the earth, and so God frequently called him dust because he is earthly, taken from the ground.
When Jesus showed up, a new order of humanity came into existence. He is called the second Adam. His body was not conceived as normal humans are, though it was as fleshly as any other human body. He was conceived miraculously, and His body was made from heavenly materiality and not taken from the dust. He is called the heavenly Man, because He came down from heaven, and not taken from the earth.
2 Corinthians 5:17 above is a bold declaration of what God has done for us. He has made us like Christ, of heavenly origin and of a different order. When we believe in Jesus, we are not only changed but recreated. The new creation is not a play of words but a revelation of truth, what has actually taken place. Your spirit has been recreated. The soul is being transformed now. And then one day, oh what blessed day that will be, our physical, weak and corrupted bodies will be transformed to His glorious body not made of earth but of heavenly substance, radiating the very glory of God! (Phil 3:21)
One of our greatest challenges today is to believe and accept what God is saying that we are truly a new creation now. You might not feel different, and your body today certainly is not different. It is simply because we are still in the process. You do not need to wait for the new body. The Lord says by the mystery of faith, you can begin enjoying the benefits of your new life in Christ now while waiting for the fullness of our inheritance, which is still to come.
MEDITATE
Are you a new creation in Christ now or are you yet to become a new creation? How could you explain the fact that someone might be truly born again but continue to live in their old ways as if nothing has happened?
APPLY THE WORD
You are a new species of humanity in Christ. You are heavenly, not earthly. Yes, your soul and body are still old. You need to renew your mind and align it with the Spirit to start enjoying some benefits of the new life in you while you wait for the fullness to come when Jesus returns and our new bodies are given to us!
PRAY
Ask the Spirit to help you come to the full realization of the truth that you are a new creation now in Christ.
