Living in heaven and working on earth!

And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: (Eph. 2:6 KJV)

Genesis 1:1 says God created the heavens and the earth. He set the heavens to rule and control the earth (Gen. 1:14). This is both physical and spiritual. The spiritual heaven, where God dwells, rules over the affairs of the earth. Jesus said whoever comes from above (heaven) is above all (Jn. 3:31), establishing the superiority of the heavens over the earth.

Man is a mystery creature of God. He has designed us to bring together the spiritual and the physical realms. Both worlds come together in humans. We are essentially spirit beings, but we also have a body that dwells on the earth. We live in both worlds at the same time. The scripture above unveils the mystery of the new creation in Christ. It says God has made us to sit together with Jesus Christ in the heavenly places. How can this be possible? Because the new creation is a spirit. In the realm of the spirit, we are seated with Christ in the highest place of authority. We are in Him! But we also live daily in this earthly realm. The beauty of the christian life is to manifest the life of heaven here on earth. We live IN HIM in the heavenly places, while He is living IN US here in the earthly places! We live in heaven and work on earth!

MEDITATE

Think about the mystery revealed in the scripture above. You are currently in the heavenly places in Christ while reading this devotional! Start declaring that reality with your mouth.

PRAY

Thank the Lord for the working of grace. Pray that the Holy Spirit will open your understanding to this truth today.

APPLY THE WORD TODAY!

The excitement of Christianity is in living the lifestyle of heaven on the earth. This is Eden! God asked Job a question that is so insightful in this regard in Job 38:33- “Do you know the laws of the heavens, or can you set up their rule over the earth? (Job 38:33 NET). This is exactly what God wants us to learn- know the laws of your home country (heaven) and bring them over to rule where you live here on earth! You live in heaven and work on the earth! Activate the laws of heaven to subdue the affairs of the earth.
