How to live in the blessing of the Lord today
But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man shall be blessed in what he does. (Jas. 1:25 NAS)
God has a plan for the material well-being of His children here on earth. That plan is the blessing of the Lord. It is God’s design to financially empower His people. Â It is vital for us to understand what the blessing is and how to activate it in our lives and walk in it. An excellent example to explain what the blessing is to compare it to the rain that falls on a field and makes the seed grow to produce a crop. The blessing of the Lord causes the things we do to yield supernatural results.
It is squarely our responsibility to activate and operate this blessing in our lives here on earth. This truth is so important. Â Jesus has brought to us the blessing, free of charge. You did not earn it. You cannot work for it. It is yours, through the finished work of Christ. All you have to do is to walk in it. There is one thing that remains, from the old to the new testament. It was true for those who were under the law and now true for those of us living today under grace. The blessing of the Lord is activated by DOING God’s word. Until your life has been established in the habit of doing what God says, you are not yet ready for perpetual activation of the blessing. The scripture above says that the man who effectively does what God says will “be blessed in what he does”. When the blessing is at work in you, it does not matter what you do. All that matters is that it is you doing it. Â You can sell packaged water and then become a worldwide distributor of water by the blessing.
The secret of the blessing is your attitude towards God’s Word and not just giving as many believers have come to think. Divine prosperity is not a “jackpot” that you throw some money in and God throws harvest back at you. It is founded upon a solid relationship with God in His Word. Giving is also one of many things the Word has instructed us to live by. Just train yourself to do what God says, every day. Love your neighbor. Give. Forgive. Seek first His kingdom. Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. Fear not…..the list continues. The blessing is for Word practitioners.
MEDITATE
Think deeply on the verse above. Say it to yourself. Yes-the Word says in Joshua 1:8 that the word should not depart from your mouth, but you should meditate on it day and night. Do the Word!
PRAY
Ask the Spirit to help you to become a Word practitioner every day.
ACT ON THE WORD!
The reason why I always include this section in the devotionals to “Act on the Word” is that the power and the blessings of the Lord are activated when we DO what He says. Hearing what God says and not doing it is self-deception. There is a crisis of hearers in Church. We are all caught in it to different degrees. Some hear, they could shout about the sermon, stand to their feet, scream and even get into an “emotional fit” but later do nothing about what they heard and wonder why their lives remain the same. God wants you to be a doer, not a hearer only.  You do not need to wait to do a “big thing” to know that you are doing the Word. “Do not judge others” is the Word of God. When you act upon it, you are doing the Word and therefore mapping out your life in the Blessing. Are you still waiting? Start acting and diligently doing God’s Word today! Look for a Word that applies to your situation now and start practicing how to do His Word.
