It shall come to pass in the last days
And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams (Acts 2:17 KJV)
When the Lord poured out His Spirit upon the Apostles on Pentecost, this even shook Jerusalem. Peter explained to the astonished crowd that what they were seeing and hearing was the fulfillment of Joel’s prophecy that God would pour out His Spirit upon all flesh.
The pouring of God’s Spirit means God is giving us His Spirit. One of the emblems of the Spirit is water, and so the figure of pouring out water is often used for the giving of the Spirit. God gives, and we receive the Spirit! And when we receive, we possess or have. You have the Spirit of God!
What happens when God pours out the Spirit? Well, the book of Acts is a record of the first events that took place when men and women receive the Spirit of God. In summary, receiving the Spirit of God is the same as receiving God! His Spirit in you is God Himself in you, causing your state of existence and operations to be lifted up to the divine! His Spirit quickens your body and your heart to experience and express His life!
MEDITATE
What happens when God poured out His Spirit according to Acts 2:17 above? What would happen to the sons and daughters?
APPLY THE WORD
We are living in the days of Pentecost. When God pours out His Spirit, people start loving each other, becoming joyful, walking in holiness and righteousness, etc. His Spirit causes miracles and the gifts of the Spirit to flourish amongst us. In other words, when the Spirit is poured out, deserts become fruitful fields! Be filled with the Spirit every single day and moment!!
PRAY
Pray that you will not be drunk with wine but be filled with the Spirit every single day! ( Eph. 5:18)
