Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land (Job 1:10 KJV)
Job 1 opens with a strange conversation between God and Satan. The Lord, in essence, told Satan how Job was such an upright mand and feared Him; the Lord was pleased with the walk of Job. Satan responded to the Lord with the words above and said “hast not thou made an hedge about him, and his house, and about all that he hath on every side? Satan had attempted to attack Job, but there was a hedge of protection around him from the Lord.
The Psalmist gave us a similar picture of divine protection and said:
“As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, So the LORD is round about his people From henceforth even for ever” (Psalm 125:2 KJV).
“The angel of the LORD encampeth Round about them that fear him, and delivereth them” (Psalm 34:7 KJV).
If God did this for the saints in the Old Testament, there is something better for the righteous in the New Testament. There is a hedge of divine protection around you in Christ. You do not see it with your physical eyes, but you should certainly see with your heart’s spiritual eyes through knowledge and believing the Word. You are not as vulnerable as you might think. Open your eyes and see the glorious hedge of protection around you and rest in your Savior.
Satan is a father of lies and whenever he speaks we have to be careful about it! Do you think he was lying to God when he told Him about the hedge?
APPLY THE WORD
You must know and believe that things do not just happen to you by accident. You are protected. There is a divine hedge around you. Even Satan cannot touch you except there is divine permission for him to try you. You are a child of the King of the universe!
Thank the Father for His hedge of protection around you.
