Declaring the End from the Beginning
..I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure (Isa. 46:9-10 KJV)
God identifies Himself as a Being with a peculiar quality “declaring the end from the beginning.”He says there is none like Him, implying no other being can do what He is telling us about Himself. What is the meaning of “declaring the end from the beginning.”
The first and the most apparent meaning is that of foretelling or predicting the future. Does this sound familiar? Certainly! This is prophecy from the human standpoint. It is declaring the future to make known unto God’s people what the future holds. But there is more about declaring the future or prophecy than merely predicting the future.
God in His omniscience knows the future. However, it is not as though He is passively telling us what He knows will happen, as mere prediction will imply. An even greater revelation of this amazing quality of the divine being is that He declares what shall be from the beginning by His omnipotence. He is not merely saying what He knows about the future. He declares what should be. This is power! This is not foretelling but “forthtelling”. When He speaks, the universe is steered and adjusted to fulfill His will. Do you see it in the verse above? He says “My counsel shall stand.”
How do you fit in this? God said He would pour out His Spirit upon all flesh, meaning He will give His Spirit to all His children, not exclusively to a few who have the OFFICE of the prophet as it was in the Old Testament. This means as a believer, you carry the ability to declare the end from the beginning. Predicting the future is only one part of the future. Forthtelling that is, declaring what it should be and seeing creation adjust to fulfill that Word is a quality you now have because of the Spirit!!
The year is starting. Do you know what you should do? You guess right! Declare what the year should be from the Word of God already given to you in scriptures!!!
MEDITATE
What is the difference between “foretelling” and “forthtelling” in prophecy?
APPLY THE WORD
Learn to talk. Don’t close your mouth over your future. This is not just a preacher’s rhetoric. Learn to speak forth the Word. You have the Spirit of God and you have to speak the Word to control your future’s direction.
PRAY
Thank the Lord for the blessing of having His Spirit and the gift of the prophetic to every single one of His Children.
