Be of good cheer in these last days
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. (Jn. 16:33 KJV)
There is so much going around us, that it appears as though it is impossible not to fear and be anxious. The world’s economies are shaking, moral decadence is reaching another level, political systems are trembling, hatred and violence are escalating… the list continues.
Jesus says in all these things you should be of good cheer. Is that possible? Sometimes we might be tempted to think God is also taken by surprise by the issues going on in the world today. No, He is not. In fact, He told us long ago that these things will happen and when they begin to happen, we should not be frightened by them. Jesus said “behold, I have told you before(Matt. 24:25 KJV). He has overcome the world. You should rest in His victory. Your life is in very powerful and secure hands. We may all be living on earth but your life as a believer is hidden in Christ Jesus in God.
Guard your peace jealously. Do not allow fear and anxiety take a hold of your heart.
MEDITATE-be of good cheer
Think on the verse above. Is it possible to be at peace and maintain your joy in the midst of all that is going on? God says “yes, it is possible”. Can you see that possible for you?
PRAY
Ask the Lord for the serenity to maintain your peace each day despite what is going on.
ACT ON THE WORD
Do you know that if you fear and worry like the world does, you will also share their experience? God is not telling you to be of good cheer so that you can “maintain good spirits”. It is being in good cheer that unleashes spiritual power to overcome circumstances. Your life is a miracle, and you are not like any other person who does not have God with them.
