As Many as are Led by the Spirit of God
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. (Rom. 8:14 KJV)
The Lord gives us a characteristic of those who are called sons in the scripture in Romans 8:14 above. Sons of God are those who are led by the Spirit. This is the default position for every single believer because we all received the Spirit of God when we received Christ. It is the Spirit of God that marks us as belonging to Christ.
But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his (Rom. 8:9 KJV)
The Spirit of God is in you. When we yield to His control, influences, and directions in life, He will lead and direct your life to produce the outward character and works of God called the fruit of the Spirit. Every believer has the Spirit of God and therefore is a child of God( or sons in the general sense). However, those believers who yield to God and allow the Spirit of God to control and lead them are sons, meaning, mature children of God.
The Spirit of God wants to lead you. When He leads, the glory of God will result. When you( the flesh) lead your life, sin, frustration, struggles, failures, heartaches, etc., will be the result. Yield to Him, and see the glory revealed in your life!
MEDITATE
How does the Spirit of God lead us? ( John 10:27). What does God want us to do so that He can lead us by His Spirit ? ( Rom. 6:13) Declare that “The Spirit of God leads me in my thoughts, feelings, decisions, words, and actions in life.”
APPLY THE WORD
Living in the Spirit and walking in the Spirit are not the same things ( Gal. 5:25). God wants both for you. You are already alive in the Spirit, and He wants you to walk in the Spirit as you yield your life so that He can lead you.
PRAY
Ask the Spirit of God to help you yield yourself to Him entirely in everything.
