What is in your hand?
And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod (Exod. 4:2 KJV)
The scripture above gives us an intriguing conversation between the LORD and Moses in the burning bush. Moses was unsure if the Israelites would believe that he had indeed encountered God. He requested a sign and in response the LORD asked him “what is in your hand?”.
Moses naively responded “a rod,” probably thinking “it is just a rod, a shepherd’s staff.” Well, that rod in the LORD’s hands made Egypt tremble through mighty miracles. There is nothing negligible in the hands of God. The secret was not the rod. It was the God who was using the rod.
This truth is as applicable to us today as it was to Moses. You might be thinking like Moses “it is just me”, with all that you know about you. However, in God’s hands, you cease to be the you that you know! The Lord had to teach me this lesson a while ago. I had the habit of always wanting to get everything perfectly in order or everything that I need in place before taking major steps. I realized I often kept waiting for the perfect moment, which in many cases never came. The Lord taught me to “use what you have in your hands” to do what you have to accomplish. It was a game changer for the way I think.
What can you do with the “little” money, time, talent, resources, etc. in your hands?
MEDITATE
Please think with the Lord right now and take an inventory of your life. What do you have in your hands? What can you do with it?
APPLY THE WORD
Are you waiting to start that business only after X, Y, Z…? Are you currently frozen at a point because you feel you do not have what it takes to make that move in your life? Act on the Word today and take the first steps knowing the God you are trusting in.
