This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. (Gal. 5:16 )
Walking in the Spirit is your ticket to an overcoming life on the earth. The spirit rules the natural, and our access to the world of the spirit to implement spiritual principles from the Word of God makes us the most suitable beings for all-round success in every aspect of our lives. Life is more spiritual than many of us realize, and the more we do acknowledge this truth, the more attentive we become to spiritual principles in order to align our lives with them.
Our scripture above instructs us to walk in the Spirit because that is the only way to overcome and silence carnality in our lives. What does it mean to walk in the Spirit? The 18th verse of the same Chapter of Galatians gives us the clue. It says in the Amplified Translation “but if you are guided and led by the Spirit”. To walk in the Spirit simply means we are guided and led by the Holy Spirit. It means the Spirit of God goes ahead and you follow Him. The best picture is to think about the pillar of cloud and of fire that went before Israel in the desert, directing them on when and where they should go. Walking in the Spirit is not limited to the pulpit, ministry or time of service. The Spirit of God guides you everyday life, day by day. He guides your actions and words. He guides your thoughts and feelings. As your natural sensual feelings and thoughts have guided your life since you were naturally born, dictating what you do, so the Spirit of God becomes your new Spiritual Sense that directs your life. You learn to follow spiritual realities, and no longer your feelings or what is going on in your natural environment.
Walk in the Spirit each day, every day, every month and every year. Learn to be sensitive to the things of the Spirit. That is why you meditate on God’s Word. That is why you pray, so your heart does not become callous to spiritual realities, making you dull, deaf or blind spiritually. To walk in the Spirit, we must first be aware and sensitive to the realities of the Spirit and then yield our lives to the control of these realities. If you know God does not want you to be bitter with someone, and yield your actions and words to that spiritual reality, choosing to love and forgive rather than be bitter after being offended, then you are guided by the things of the Spirit. In the contrary, if you know these spiritual realities and not allow your life to be controlled by them but rather follow your feelings or thoughts that come with the offense, then the flesh or carnality is controlling you. Choose the Spirit today.
The Word in your mind and mouth (1 Tim 4:15; Josh 1: 8)
Think about the verse above and let it become a spiritual reality to you.
Water the Seed (word) to grow. Invite the Spirit’s strength! (Isa 32:15; Zach 4:6)
Ask the Spirit in prayer to train you on how to walk with Him.
APPLY THE WORD TODAY!
Your door to a blessed life today is doing God’s Word. Refuse to be a hearer or reader only! (James 1:22-26)
Be conscious of His presence inside of you. Be sensitive to what His Word says. Choose today to follow what the Spirit says. Following His Word is the best and safest way to walking in the Spirit. You can do this today. Choose God’s ways today and not what your feelings would rather want. Choose not to be afraid, rather than become fearful. Choose not to be anxious rather than fret about the challenges that come your way. As you choose to allow the Word control your life, you are learning and being trained by the Spirit how to walk with Him.
