This Sickness is not unto Death
When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby (Jn. 11:4 KJV)
When Jesus heard of Lazarus’s illness, He said “ this sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God.” A few days later, Jesus Himself openly told His disciples “Lazarus is dead” (Jn. 11:14 KJV). He spoke the Word a few days earlier that the sickness was not going to kill Lazarus! Did God’s Word fail? Certainly not. You know the end of the story that Lazarus was raised from the dead.
Jesus said the sickness was for the glory of God and not for death. This in no wise means God caused Lazarus to be sick, so He could take the glory. However, God was going to use the evil that came upon Lazarus to glorify His Name. This is also illustrated in the death of Jesus. Satan plotted the death of Christ. God used the death of His Son to destroy Satan forever.
The Lord can use whatever the enemy is trying to do in your life for your good. All things work together for your good, because your Father, Creator God, can turn things around for you! He is the reason why things turn out well for us. It is not chance, but a divine hand. Be strong. The adversary may have you going through hell right now, but that will be his destruction in your life if you stand in faith.
MEDITATE
Ponder upon John 11:4 above in the light of the devotional above. Declare the “All things are working together for my good by the working of the Holy Spirit.”
APPLY THE WORD
The key that turns death to life as seen in Lazarus story is faith in the Word of God. Jesus said this repeatedly( John 11:25,26,40). It is your ability to stand on the Word that brings the victory. Do not quit!
PRAY
Ask the Father to help you not to get discouraged when things turn to go against you in life.
