And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: (Colossians 3:10 KJV)

Deshen Daily devotional for yesterday discussed prophet Hosea’s prophetic declaration that the people of God are destroyed because of lack of knowledge. It is commonly said that, “knowledge is power” in our natural world, but this fact becomes even more powerful in the spiritual realm. Colossians 3:10 tells us one of the most astonishing operations of knowledge in our lives as believers: the renewal of the “new man” or the new creation in Christ.

The verse says the new life we have in Christ called the “new man” or the new self is renewed in knowledge, that is, it becomes transformed from one state to a better one as the person increases in knowledge. This verse carries the secret of Christian transformation and spiritual growth. Knowledge is the catalyst for spiritual growth and transformation.

You might have heard me teach repeatedly that miracles by themselves are not the primary elements of spiritual growth. We need the power of God for miracles. However, miracles cannot do what they are not primary meant to do in our lives. Israel saw astonishing miracles and all of them died in the desert except Joshua and Caleb because they did not know the ways of God.

PRAY

Ask the Father to put in your heart a new desire to hunger to know Him, as newborn babies hunger for milk.
