That you would walk worthy of God
That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory (1 Thessalonians 2:12 KJV)
Paul exhorted the Thessalonians to walk worthy of God, who had called them unto His kingdom and glory. There is a calling, which is based on grace and our daily walk, which should be worthy of that calling. We are called to be saints( what Christ has made of us) but we are commanded to be faithful to walk worthy of that calling. Paul put it this way to the Ephesians
“PAUL, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 1:1 KJV).
He wrote to the saints and the faithful. As a saint, Christ has made us holy and righteous by His blood. We have to be faithful to live holy and righteous in our daily manner of life. He gives us the strength to be faithful. You will remember that one of the fruit of the Spirit is faithfulness ( Gal. 5:22). Well, that faithfulness is not merely limited to being faithful in our ministry callings. It also includes being faithful to our most precious calling, which is our call unto God’s kingdom and glory.
We have a high calling in Christ, to be partakers of God’s kingdom and glory. That high calling requires us to be faithful to walk in accordance with that calling.
MEDITATE
What is faithfulness? How do we walk worthy of God’s calling?
APPLY THE WORD
The Lord expects us to walk worthy of His calling. Our works matter. We are not saved by works but saved unto good works( Ephesians 2:10). Walk per the heavenly calling for your life.
PRAY
Ask the Spirit of the Lord to help you live faithfully to His heavenly calling in your life.
