How to Trigger Encounters with God
And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness (Acts 4:31 KJV)
We can trigger encounters with God. An encounter with God is the experience of coming in contact with His presence, power, or His angels. God deals with us both sovereignly, and through the choices we make. For example, when Jesus appeared to Paul on the road to Damascus, it was a sovereign act of God prompted by His purposes for Paul’s life. However, in Acts 4:31 above, the Apostles triggered a manifestation of God’s power by what they did—they prayed. We will focus on the aspects of divine encounters which we can activate or stimulate.
Scripture reveals at least three ways we can activate the supernatural in our lives: fellowship with God, knowledge, and fellowship with God’s people. Fellowship with God occurs in our hearts and is the essence of prayer. Believers can commune with God in their hearts and trigger an overflow of His presence and power. Second, God manifests and reveals Himself in His knowledge, and therefore an understanding and believing of God’s word triggers an experience of His presence and power.
Though we can pray and receive God’s Word alone, fellowship with God’s people requires interaction with other believers. Also, since God wants a family, He values such interactions in the Christian community. He can encounter us by working through other Christians.
Therefore, we can trigger the supernatural in our lives by actively engaging in prayer, the knowledge of God, and interacting with other believers.

What are the three ways we can trigger the supernatural discussed above? Do you experience God in your life or your Christian life?
The three means above—fellowship with God, knowledge, fellowship with man — are not mutually exclusive. For instance, if you prayed and studied the Word yet nothing happened, tap into the gift of another believer in that area, and God will meet you through them! We should use all of them as the situation mandates.
Ask the Father for encounters with Him as you practice these three principles.
