Making it Through the Storms of Life
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you (Isa. 43:2 ESV)
The LORD gives us a reassuring promise in the verse above that should be an anchor for our soul as we navigate our way through in life. He says when we pass through the rivers, they will not overwhelm us, and when we walk through the fire, we shall not be burned. This is a natural anomaly because the waters submerge people and the flame consumes anyone who attempts to go through it. However, the Lord says this will not be our experience. He goes on further to tell us why the waters and the fire lose their consuming power over us—because He will be with us.
The raging waters and the fire here represent the storms and challenges of life. We understand from here that we might have to face waters and fire in life. However, He gives us the outcome even before the beginning. We will come out of the storms victorious. His Presence with us is our protection. His presence is our guard. He wants us to know that He is ever with us, irrespective of what we are passing through, waters or fire. We may not feel His presence. We may not hear His audible voice. But He wants you to believe in His Word, that He is with you through those storms of life.
