Living above worry today

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. (Philippians. 4:6 KJV)

The world is plagued with fear, anxiety, and worries. People fret about their jobs, families, financial situation, world crises, etc. These things are expected to be part of our daily lives, by the world’s system. Well, not with God. Scripture abounds with exhortations and commands for us not to fear or worry. Many might think to yourself that not worrying about the affairs of life as everyone does might be a sign of denial or being unrealistic in life. God has commanded us not to be conformed to this world-do not do things the way the world does( Rom 12:2).

The word for us to “be careful for nothing” is based on the premise that God is in charge of our lives. Worry is an awareness of our vulnerability to our circumstances. It is the fruit of a life not in control of situations. When we trust in God, we roll into His hands the responsibility of our circumstances. If God is in charge, let Him be God and bare the responsibility while we into rest by faith.

Peace is a faithful witness to us that we have truly trusted God as worry also testifies to us that we have not trusted God irrespective of whether we save we have. That is why in the 7th verse of Philippians 4 above, we are told that when we trust God and commit the affairs of our lives in prayer, the peace of God will guard our hearts.

MEDITATE

The Word in your mind and mouth (1 Tim 4:15; Josh 1: 8)

Ponder and mutter this verse again and again. Leave it rolling in your mind. Declare that you are not anxious because God is in charge of your life. And that you live by faith in God and not by the sight of your circumstances.

PRAY

Water the Seed (word) to grow. Invite the Spirit’s strength! (Isa 32:15; Zach 4:6)

This is an area of life that we really need God’s help. Worry is part of the world’s system, but we are no longer of the world. Ask the Lord for the ability to rise above worry, and trust Him in every step of the way.

APPLY THE WORD TODAY!

Your door to a blessed life today is doing God’s Word. Refuse to be a hearer or reader only! (James 1:22-26)

Can you remember this verse when worry comes on today and choose to trust God rather than worry? If you do, you have just discovered the secret of peace in this troubled world, every day!
