Jehovah Jireh Is Your Father

Abraham called the name of that place The Lord Will Provide, as it is said to this day, “In the mount of the Lord it will be provided.” (Gen. 22:14 NAS)

The scripture above records the story of Abraham, and his son Isaac, on Mount Moriah. When God miraculously provided a lamb for Abraham to use rather than his son, Abraham called the name of the place “Jehovah Jireh,” which means “The Lord will provide.”

The Lord provided the lamb that Abraham needed for a sacrifice. Just before they had arrived at the mountain, Abraham had spoken in faith to his son Isaac that “God will provide for Himself the lamb for the burnt offering, my son” (Gen. 22:8 NAS). The Lord even provided a Lamb for the sins of the world. When God provides for us, He supplies what we need beyond natural circumstances. The same God who provided Jesus is more than able to provide for every other need that you have. He is Jehovah Jireh, who provides all your needs according to His riches in glory through Christ Jesus.

MEDITATE

The Word of God actively works in your heart. Meditation is feeding on the Word. Ponder on and mutter the scripture above.

PRAY

Thank the Lord for being your Provider. Take a moment to remember the greatest provision of all, which is Jesus Christ Himself, as the Lamb for our sins.

ACT ON THE WORD!

He is not Jehovah Jireh to everyone, not even to every believer. You have to accept Him as your Provider. This might seem somewhat strange to some people that He can be your Savior but not yet be your Provider. He becomes our Provider the day we stop being our own provider, and start trusting Him fully. Make Him your Provider today!
