Grace and Glory in Prophecy
For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly (Ps. 84:11 KJV)
The Psalmist give us a prophetic picture of our blessed state in Christ with the words “the LORD will give grace and glory”. He adds that “no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly”. The Lord had shown His servants in the Old Testament that an age of glory was coming, but it was not for their days.
The Apostle Peter gives us a glorious fulfillment of this prophecy in 1 Peter 1:11 below
Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow (1 Pet. 1:11 KJV)
He notes that these prophets saw the “sufferings of Christ” and the “glory that should follow”. This is grace and glory! Christ suffered for humanity, taking up the divine sentence for the entire sin of mankind. When He resurrected, He was raised to a state of glory far beyond the heavens, as a Man, paving the way for His people who will believe in Him. The ultimate destination of God’s grace in our lives is the glory of God. In fact, grace came to bring us into the very glory of God!
MEDITATE
What is the glory of God? Why was grace needed for man to be brought into the glory of God? Declare that “I am a child of grace, born for the revelation of the glory of God!”
APPLY THE WORD
The glory of God often appears as light and the Lord says you are the light of the world! Why? Your light, that is Christ, has come. The Lord has really big plans for your life. Let His glory glow brighter and brighter in your life each day!
PRAY
Thank the Lord for giving us grace in Christ. Praise Him for Calvary, the sufferings and pain He had to endure for us to enjoy the glory.
