Get the Word into your spirit
Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.1 (1 Tim. 4:15 KJV)
The greatest investment for a triumphant life on a daily basis in all aspects of life is to invest in the Word of God so that it takes a hold of your spirit. Many believers are still to realize the truth of this statement. God has given to us all things that we need for life and godliness. This is either true, or God’s Word is fake. And all His blessings are in His Word to us.
A first step to getting the Word in our spirits is to ensure we feed daily on it, such as through daily devotionals. However, the Word of God does not get into your spirit simply because you read it. This is where many are missing it. The Word of gets into our spirits( or heart) by MEDITATION. This is different from reading. Reading a devotional like this, without meditating on it is like putting your favorite food in your mouth without chewing, swallowing, digesting and absorbing it. Reading without meditation will fill your head and not your heart. This is why you have believers who might be very knowledgeable of the scriptures but NEVER experience or get results from the verses they seem to know so well. If you want to see God’s Word transform you, and become active in your life, then learn to meditate. Meditation is the chewing, the swallowing, the digesting, the absorption, and the assimilation of the Word of God.
You meditate by giving the Word time in your mind and mouth(Josh 1: 8). You ponder on the Word and mutter it to yourself. Muttering the Word( speaking it under your breath) is not a familiar concept to many believers, but is vital. There is no shortcut. If you know what is in the Word for you, you will make time for it.
MEDITATE
The Word in your mind and mouth (1 Tim 4:15; Josh 1: 8)
Meditate on the scripture above!! Get that Word into your spirit. What would you be like if your life begins to demonstrate the results of God’s Word to those around you?
PRAY
Water the Seed (word) to grow. Invite the Spirit’s strength! (Isa 32:15; Zach 4:6)
Thank the Lord for the gift of His word. Ask Him for the grace to give yourself to His Word, and to be a doer and not a hearer. Above all, ask God to open your eyes to see what He sees in His Word.
APPLY THE WORD TODAY!
Your door to a blessed life today is doing God’s Word. Refuse to be a hearer or reader only! (James 1:22-26)
Apply the Word above. Read Joshua 1:8 and 1 Tim 4:15. Take the first baby step today to begin to intentionally get God’s Word down to your spirit from your head. Do not just read it but set aside time to focus your mind, and then your words on the Word. Do this for the next one week and see what God’s Word can do for you.
