A Killer Heart Disease

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh” (Ezek. 36:26 NKJ)

Heart disease is the number one cause of death in the entire world. The medical community is making significant progress, but there is still so much more left undone.

However, man has two types of hearts. The first is the physical heart that is in your chest and the second is the spiritual heart that is within the inner man. If we think that the disease of the natural heart is the worst killer, think again! Diseases of the spiritual heart of man kill far more people than natural heart diseases, and you may well ask how.

The September 11 attacks were perpetrated by men of diseased spiritual hearts who killed some three thousand people in one day. Moreover, since abortion was legalized in the US, more than fifty million children have been killed. World War II death estimates were about sixty million. The list of activities caused by sickness of the spiritual heart of man continues. The death tolls from natural heart disease are no match for these numbers.

As a believer, the ultimate disease of the human heart was annihilated in you by the blood of Christ. You were completely forgiven and God gave you a brand new heart, free of any diseases as our scripture above teaches us. You have a new heart, a new spirit, in Christ. The stony and hardened heart of sin was taken away from you.

The Lord then cautioned us not to allow our new hearts to become hardened anymore, “but exhort one another daily, while it is called ‘Today,’ lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.” (Heb. 3:13 NKJ)
