If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit (Gal. 5:25 )
The verse above makes it obvious that “living in the Spirit” and “walking in the Spirit” are not the same things. Our victory today, and every day, hinges on our ability to live and walk in the Spirit as believers. Without this, we are as ordinary as any other human being trying to survive out there. However, believers have been given the privilege to live a life that is above the ordinary, beyond the grasp of the natural laws that ordinary men are governed by. Romans 8:2 tells us that the “law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set us free from the law of sin and death”. The Spirit lifts us up above the ordinary life.Walking in the Spirit is our key to living above and beyond the circumstances of this natural life.
When we got born again, we got born into the realm of the spirit. We came alive in the spirit. That began our journey of the life of the spirit. As believers, we are different from the unsaved men around us because we have passed from death to life. Every believer in Christ, born of the Spirit, therefore automatically is “living” in the Spirit. We are told “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his (Rom. 8:9).
Walking in the Spirit is bringing the life of the spirit to control our soul and body. It is bringing our outward life under the leadership of the inner life in our Spirit. When we live our outward life here on earth based on the principles, laws, and practices of the inner life of the Spirit within us, we are walking in the Spirit. Living in the Spirit does not produce any results in itself, otherwise, all Christians will automatically outwardly overcome disease, poverty, fear, satanic oppression etc. These results require that we subject the outward life by working out and living out the Spirit-life within us. If you have to be healed, then you need to learn how to draw healing from your spirit and cause your body to align! When we walk in the Spirit, we are sensitive to spiritual directives and allow our lives be controlled by the Spirit. We follow spiritual leads, not sensual leads from our bodies and minds. When we are living in the Spirit but not allowing our lives to be controlled by the Spirit, we are walking in the flesh, which is carnality.
Start walking in the Spirit in full measure today. When the Spirit shows up, natural laws will bow. Our difficulty is not living in the Spirit because that is your birthright as a believer, but walking in the Spirit. In that realm, there are no impossibilities, because God shows up!
The Word in your mind and mouth (1 Tim 4:15; Josh 1: 8)
Meditate on that verse today and keep it in your mouth and mind! Declare that you are not only living in the Spirit today but you are walking by the leadership of the Holy Spirit.
Water the Seed( word) to grow. Invite the Spirit’s strength! (Isa 32:15; Zach 4:6)
The Holy Spirit longs to see us walk in the Spirit. That is where blessings overflow, disease bows, sin is subdued, Satan is baffled etc. Pray that the Lord will teach you to walk in the Spirit every day including today!
APPLY THE WORD TODAY!
Your door to a blessed life today is doing God’s Word. Refuse to be a hearer or reader only! (James 1:22-26)
Learn to allow spiritual realities to control your life, for that is the essence of “yielding to the Spirit”. We cannot walk in the Spirit without being submitted to God’s control and authority. For example, if you feel like getting angry and you remember God’s Word that “anger rests in the bosom of fools” or “do not let the sun go down on your anger”, choose to “obey” God’s Word and allow the spiritual reality it has brought to guide you. This is walking in the Spirit! The greatest, and easiest, agency of causing us to walk in the Spirit is by acting on His Word. Each time you act on God’s Word rather than what you feel or see, you are walking in the Spirit, because spiritual realities are controlling your life! This is the foundation for everyone to begin. You can start walking in the Spirit right now!
