For if I by grace be a partaker

For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?” (1 Corinthians 10:30 KJV)

Paul revealed a profound truth regarding our place in Christ while addressing a problem with the  Corinthian Church. He said, “if I by grace be a partaker.” This comment implies grace made him a partaker of something. This statement is valid for the specific incidence Paul was addressing and beyond.

God has made us partakers of Christ(Hebrews 3:14), the Holy Spirit( Hebrews 6:4), and of the divine nature( 2 Peter 1:4)  in Christ. A handy example to explain the glories of this truth is from Hebrews 2:14, which states that Christ was a partaker of flesh and blood( that is of humanity). What does it mean that Christ became flesh? He became a human being! He had a human body and knew the experience of having a body, the joys, sensations, challenges, and difficulties. He also had emotions, thoughts, and a will. In addition, He had a human spirit. He was as human as all of us and thus partaking fully in humanity.

I dare you to bring this meaning to the reality that God by grace has made us partakers of the divine nature,  the Holy Spirit, or of Christ.  It is beyond human comprehension that God would do this to humanity. It essentially means God has brought us to experience what it is to be God. Such a display of extravagant and excessive kindness can only be by grace. Our physical mortal bodies are veiling the fullness of the glory that awaits us. One of these days, the Father will reveal the fullness of His grace and glory in us.

MEDITATE
