An example of grace to inspire you today
He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people. (Exod. 13:22)
The scripture above gives us an example of grace in the Old Testament. After the Lord brought Israel out of Egypt, He led them by a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. The scripture emphasizes that the Lord did not take away this pillar before the people by day and by night.
This action is much more than a demonstration of God’s faithfulness. It shows to us His unfailing love for His people. If you remember how stubborn, stiff-necked and rebellious the Israelites were in the desert, then you will fully understand the meaning of the scripture above emphasizing the fact that God did not take away the pillar by day to lead them or the pillar by night to give them light. In other words, He never abandoned them despite their sometimes horrible and disappointing attitude. This example of grace in the Old Testament is replicated in the New. This pillar of cloud was God’s presence leading the people, which to us is the Holy Spirit within us. Despite all that is going on in the Church today, He has not withdrawn His Holy Spirit. The same is true for you. God’s presence with you will never be withdrawn from you. He will never leave you nor forsake you-ever.
