Did you receive the entire Christmas gift?

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given…. (Isaiah 9:6, KJV)

Christmas is a joyous celebration of the birth of the Savior of the world. It is the most beautiful season of the year, and rightly so! If I were to ask you: what was the gift that God gave that we commemorate as Christmas? If you say it is Jesus the Son of God who came into the world to die for our sins, you are correct! However, that answer is only the tip of the iceberg!

The gift of Christmas is the Son. Isaiah spoke above and said unto us a Child is born, and a Son is given. Jesus is the Son of God sent from the Father to die for the sins of the world. However, He came as the Son of God so that through His death, the gift of the Son might be given to those who believe!

The birth of Jesus made it possible for humanity to be brought into the joy of the life of the Son of God. God gave us the Gift of the Son, not just as Jesus, who died on the cross to bring us to glory but as Jesus the Son of God who becomes our life and our nature. That means we have been given the gift of partaking in the nature, life, joys and glory of the Son of the Living God! Make sure you open the entire Christmas package the Lord has for you!

MEDITATE

Can you see the two related meanings of the gift of the Son noted above? Receiving Jesus as the Savior is only the beginning. Stepping into the life of the Son is what He is waiting for!

APPLY THE WORD

There is more in the Christmas story for us. The Son of God was given to us, but that gift goes far beyond the cross! Open your eyes to see, and stretch your hands to receive the full package heaven has sent for you this Christmas!

PRAY

Bless the Lord for His wonderful gift in sending His Son to bring us into the glory.
