Cultivating the spirit of faith
We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak (2 Corinthians 4:13 KJV)
The current emphasis on faith in the body of Christ is not some preacher’s talk or “faith people” stuff. It is from the Holy Spirit. Faith is critical for our day to day walk and Christian experiences. Please do everything you can to invest and grow in your life of faith. Let me discuss a simple but profound concept today called “the spirit of faith”.
The spirit of faith is not an angel called faith or the Holy Spirit. Its meaning is similar to the spirit of fear in 2 Tim. 1:7. I have taught about “Spirit” and “spirit” before. The context of 2 For. 4:13 above and the Old Testament verse it is quoting Psalms 110:16 give us the meaning of the spirit of faith.
Paul and his companions were in the midst of so much persecution and troubles that he said they were always being delivered to death. However, in the midst of the negative circumstances, they believed what God had said and confessed it out loud with their mouth. This is the same situation the Psalmist was facing in Ps 116:16. Though his circumstances were so contrary to what God had said, he believed God’s promise and spoke it out. This is the spirit of faith. The word “spirit” is used to describe the attitude or disposition of the heart.
Three main components of the spirit of faith are: 1. Believing God’s Word. 2. Confessing it. 3. Believing and confessing in the midst of a contrary situation. You can tell if you have the spirit of faith by your reaction when you are in the midst of something that is negative and contrary to what God says it should be.

APPLY THE WORD
The spirit of faith is the spirit of the heroes of faith and those who change earthly circumstances with heavenly resources. Grow in this spirit. If you cannot stand with God’s Word against the direction of life’s winds, you will hardly ever have exploits or breakthroughs with God.
PRAY
Ask the Spirit ito help you grow in the spirit of faith and stand on God’s Word against all the odds until it becomes fulfilled in your life.
