But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 1:24 KJV)
Christ has been made unto us the power and wisdom of God. It might be easy to read this verse and rush over it religiously without fully appreciating the profound spiritual implications of what it is saying. Paul had been discussing issues regarding the Greeks, who were inclined to wisdom while Jews wanted miraculous signs demonstrating power. In other words, the Greeks wanted wisdom, while the Jews wanted power.
He says very boldly, that Christ is both the wisdom of God that answers to the Greeks and the power of God that relates to the Jews. Please notice what he said here. He did not say Christ gives wisdom and power, which is still correct. He said Christ is the power and the wisdom of God. The very wisdom of God, which is beyond everything humanity can ever imagine, is Christ. The very power of God, that created the world and works miracles is Christ.
And Christ is in you. This is unfathomable. Christ, the wisdom and power of God, has been made one with you. It means the wisdom and power we have to live our normal daily life is the very wisdom and power of God. May the Spirit of the Lord bring us into a full epignosis( full and complete experiential knowledge) of who we are in Christ!
How can Christ be called the power and wisdom of God? Who is He, as God in the divine Godhead?
