A winning attitude
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (1 Thess. 5:18 )
When it comes to spiritual things, attitude is everything. Our attitude can be likened to the fine tuning of a radio set to align with the frequency of a particular radio wave. A right attitude vibrates at God’s spiritual frequency and therefore establishes a proper bridge for  the flow of divine virtue.
Our verse above exhorts us to give thanks in everything. This is a key attitude in life for success in the realm the  spirit. It is a mindset. Not everyone  approaches the events of life in this way. The  Apostle exhorts us in this verse to develop an attitude of thanksgiving in every circumstance of life. This is a win-win attitude when it comes to the things of the spirit. A thankful spirit has a tremendous impact on the flow of the supernatural in our lives. If you would learn to be thankful, you will fine-tune yourself easily to the spiritual frequency of heaven and see God manifested in your life.
First, notice that the verse above did not say “for everything, give thanks”, but ” in everything give thanks”. Some believers have misinterpreted this verse as though it said “for everything”. God is not the Author of everything that comes our way in life. It will be a great error to make this assumption, and even worse still attempt to thank God for things which could be clearly against God’s express will in your life. God wants you to maintain a thankful spirit in everything. That means in whatever situation you find yourself, keep a spirit of thanksgiving to God. One way of doing that is to look for  a reason to thank God in whatever situation you are find yourself. Are you having a mean boss that seeks to make your day miserable, everyday? That might not be God’s will for him to treat you disrespectfully. How can you thank God in this? Well, is it not a blessing that you have a job in the first place? What about the ability and strength in each to go to work? Focusing on  the reasons to be thankful will unleash supernatural strength  to go through the situation and command a change in your favor. That is the key.
You see, the outcome of the events that happen to us as believers is not determined by the events themselves but by our attitude or response in those events. This is a vital piece of truth to imbibe. Your attitude or response to that crises in your life now will determine if it will change or not. It will determine  how long you will have to bear it, or  maybe if you will ever come out of it or not. This is faith. Rather than being bitter about that event, or opt to repay evil for evil and treat that individual as they treated you,  choose to see a reason to the thankful, and maintain that thankful spirit and see what happens ultimately. This is God’s will. It takes faith to live this way. A thankful spirit will make our lives an endless flow of the supernatural, because  true thankfulness from a godly heart releases supernatural virtues.Â
