What Really is the Kingdom of God?
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10 KJV)

Many Christians still struggle to understand what the Kingdom of God truly is—let alone see its manifestations in their daily lives. Yet Jesus emphasized its critical importance repeatedly in His teachings.
At its core, a kingdom is the realm where a king exerts dominion or rule—his dominion over a territory. Dominion means the exercise of authority or control at the will or discretion of the king. These basics are crucial: a king rules at will and exerts control over a territory.
With this in mind, Jesus’ words in Matthew 6:10 give one of the clearest definitions of the Kingdom of God: “Thy kingdom come,” followed by “Thy will be done in earth.” This shows that the Kingdom is the sphere where God’s will is done—the place where He exerts His authority. The key words are sphere, authority, and will.
Let me ask you: when you look at the world today, who does it look like—God or Satan? Clearly, it resembles Satan more. This means another kingdom currently governs much of the world. That is why God’s Kingdom must come to the earth. It has been established, but it is not yet fully operational in most places.
So what is God’s will as expressed in His Kingdom? Romans 14:17 tells us it is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. Wherever people live in righteousness, peace, and joy, that is God’s dominion. What a Kingdom! This is what the King desires—His will done on earth.
Also, in Matthew 12:28, Jesus gives us a striking manifestation of the Kingdom: “But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.” Casting out devils and healing by the Spirit are critical manifestations of the Kingdom. They reveal God’s will and demonstrate His control over demons and the elements of this life.
Notice that none of these expressions involve political power, positions of leadership, or external structures. God’s Kingdom operates entirely differently from human kingdoms.
God desires His Kingdom to be present in your home, your neighborhood, your job site, and your nation.
