We have a High Priest in the highest position of authority
Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens (Hebrews 8:1 KJV)
Jesus is our High Priest set on the right hand of the throne of God. The High Priest in ancient Israel represented the people before God. The people’s fate before God was hanging and dependent on the High Priest. The centrality of the High Priest’s role was to represent and be on the side of the people before God.
Jesus is our High Priest. He is on our side, and has done all that is possible for God’s best to be ours. At the right hand of God, He is still interceding on our behalf. Interceding here does not only mean praying. It means He is constantly intervening on our behalf to ensure we are what God wants us to be.
The right hand of the throne does not mean Jesus is physical at the right-hand side of a chair in heaven where the Father is seated! The right hand of the throne of God means God’s place of authority and power. He is currently at the highest place of authority and power in the realms of the heavenly places. It is from this place, with all authority and power, that Jesus functions as High Priest constantly intervening and for all eternity to ensure we enjoy eternal life and have it until it overflows! ( John 10:10).
MEDITATE
Think about the meaning of a High Priest and the right hand of the throne of God. There is power in allowing your mind to be fixated on the Word. That is the beginning of meditation.
APPLY THE WORD
Let the consciousness of Jesus as your High Priest fill your mind. Think about it and receive what it is saying to you. Let it alter the way you think about yourself and life in general.
PRAY
Thank the Lord for being a merciful and faithful High Priest to the Father for us.
