Unto Us a Son is Given
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace (Isa. 9:6 KJV)
Jesus was born naturally as just like every other human being is born as the scripture above says. Unto us, a child is born and this child will be the Seed of the woman that crush the head of the Serpent and bring freedom to humanity. However, the verse above continues and says “unto us a son is given”. Jesus was born a child. He was given as a Son. Is there a difference between a child and a Son?
In ancient Jewish and Roman culture, there was a difference made between a child and a son. A son is essentially a child that has grown to maturity. So every son is a child, but not all children are sons. The same principle applies to us as believers. Sonship in this sense has nothing to do with gender. A daughter of God is a son in the sense of maturity if that daughter grows up to become Christlike in character.
Christianity is the life of the Son of God. A Son was given to us. This is much more than merely stating that Jesus was born. He has brought us into Himself to enjoy the full rights and privileges of God in the flesh, which is a core meaning of the Son of God. Our daily Christian walk is meant to be the experience of the Son of God. Unto you, a Son has been given!
MEDITATE
What is the difference between a child of God and a son of God? Declare that “creation is waiting for my manifestation as a son of God!”
