Save Your Soul
Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls (Jas. 1:21 KJV)
James admonishes believers in the text above to continue receiving the Word that can save their souls. He was speaking to believers and not to unbelievers.
Many Bible commentators agree that the word “soul” as used in this text refers to the whole person and not just the mind, emotions or will. It refers to the inward and the outward man. The spirit part of the inward man is already saved. The soul must be saved from calamities such as fear, depression, and hate from plaguing our present day lives. The body is still vulnerable to disease and needs to be continually delivered from the destructive effects of disease. James uses the word “save” to refer to healing of the physical body here and now in James 5:15.
As you continue to feed on and receive the Word of God, you grow spiritually stronger. The Word in you will empower you to live above the death that plagues the souls and bodies of men here and now. Ultimately the Word will completely save the soul and body from death when Jesus returns. Receive the implanted Word continuously to save your soul here and now while you wait for Jesus to return!
MEDITATE
Why do you need to save your soul now? Declare that “I am receiving the Word of God constantly into my heart and saving my mind, emotions, will and bodies from all manifestations of death.”
APPLY THE WORD
Does your mind or emotions need to be saved? Lusts, anxiety, unrest, bitterness, and hate are all examples of death in the soul from which we need to be saved. We also need to be saved from the disease which brings death to the body. Receive the Word and save your soul and body!
PRAY
Thank the Lord for His wonderful salvation. Ask the Spirit to help you receive His Word constantly to save your soul.
