Remember His substitutionary work
But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed. (Isa. 53:5 NAS)
Do not allow yourself to forget about the sacrifice Jesus paid for our salvation. Christianity is truly all about Him. It is mere superficiality without an intimate knowledge of who Christ is, and what He has done for us. For humanity to be saved, there was only one Person who could do something to full rectify the sin issue. That was God Himself, and He could only have done so as a man. Worst still, saving fallen man required bearing the punishment for his sins. Jesus accepted to do this for us. He came into the world, fully aware of what He was signing up for-to be tortured, mocked, and mercilessly murdered by those He created.
His hands were pierced not for His sins, but for ours. He was crushed for the wrongs we have done. He endured all of these fully as a Man, feeling the pain and suffering, but also fully as God having all the power to extinguish His adversaries in an instant. He died as a Lamb, with the strength of a Lion. The Bible describes Him in Isa. 53:7 that “like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, So He did not open His mouth”. Had He roared as a Lion before His adversaries, we will all be heading to hell today with no Savior. You were the joy that was set before Him, to see you delivered from the eternal damnation of hell, and brought into the very glory of God. He died for you, in your place, and carried what was yours so you could have what was His. Remember what He did for you.
MEDITATE
Think about the verse above. Can you picture Christ going through the cross for you?
PRAY
We cannot avoid perpetually thanking Him for going to the cross for us. Open your mouth and acknowledge what He did for you.
ACT NOW!
Do not make the mistake of remembering the sacrifice of Christ only during easter or communion service. The cross and the empty tomb are the heart of what establishes our Christian life on a solid foundation. Christianity is about Christ. Ensure your knowledge of Who He is, and His work for you, is well written in your spirit. Go for a deeper personal knowledge of Jesus. Seek to know Him more.
